Hotel TRYP Palma reopens after a total makeover
The new hotel boom in Palma continues unabated and whislt our new item today is not about a new hotel, it's about one of the knock on effects of the competition caused by the new hotels. To keep up with the pace and in front of the curve, many Mallorca hotels are spending lots of money improving and renovating their facilities. The latest to enjoy a makeover is the TRYP Palma, which was the first hotel I ever stayed in and was a typical business travellers' accommodation.
Now, it has been thoroughly updated from top to bottom and has become the first of the Melia group's 'Innside' hotels in the Balearics. Melia's urban boutique brand is claimed to be a premium concept with '100 percent atmosphere, service and pure delight,' which is aimed at urbane travellers whether on business of pleasure.
Innside Palma joins three existing hotels in Madrid, one in Manchester and 11 in Germany as part of the upmarket marque and is decorated in cool contemporary style and features all today's modern necessities for our busy lifestyles – 50” TV, WiFi, minibar and mobile phone chargers to name just a few.
Characterised by relaxed, informal yet extremely efficient service, Innside Palma has a restaurant/lounge with the best of Mallorcan gastronomy, and for the ultimate in cocktails with a view the rooftop Balcony Pool Deck & Bar has panoramic vistas of the cityscape and some relaxing music as the sun goes down.
It certainly looks the part judging by the photos and it's changed beyond all recognition since I was there at the turn of the century so I wouldn't mind giving it a try. The idea of a nice relaxing Turkish bath followed by a Gin Fizz on the roof certainly appeals – what about you?
