Hotel Ca'n Moragues
Having a get-away-from-it-all holiday can be really great, just ask Bear Grylls, but for many of us a combination of all the facilities of the town and the peace and quiet of the countryside and coast is even better.
For anyone who wants to experience life in an authentic Mallorcan town but be surrounded by magnificent, peaceful countryside and close to the clear blue seas off the coast, then the town of Arta in the north east of Mallorca is perfect.
As a base to stay it has lots of interesting independent shops selling stylish artisan products, a thriving local market and weekly market day which fills the main street with life, music and colour. It's also well stocked with some great restaurants and bars, has a castle and church dominating the townscape from a high vantage point, with views of the surrounding plains butting up to the mountains which erupt suddenly from the green fields.
Arta is home to the beautiful Ca'n Moragues Hotel, a former 18th century manor house, lovingly converted to a boutique hotel with all mod cons but retaining most of its most charming features; sandstone walls, exposed beams, wrought ironwork, and furnished simply and sympathetically.
Though situated pretty well in the centre of town the watchwords at Ca'n Moragues are peace, quiet, tranquillity, and relaxation with comfortable, spacious rooms, a beautiful sun dappled garden/patio area to sit, read, sunbathe or take a dip in the indoor yet outdoor splash pool and keep an eye on the pair of tortoises that lumber through the grass.
Past guests have given the Hotel and average rating of 9/10 in reviews, and I have to agree, I've stayed there myself and enjoyed it immensely. Customer service is excellent and unobtrusive, the feeling of peace is all pervading, and the beds are super comfy!
It's handily placed for all the town's facilities and with more restaurants than you can shake a stick at, you'll be spoiled for choice for dinner. Parking is just up the street on a large free car park, making it easy to get in and out of town to visit nearby villages, resorts or beaches. Capdepera with its castle, the fairly commercial resort of Cala Ratjada, Colonia de Sant Pere with a small harbour and sandy cove and the wild unspoilt beaches of Sa Canova and Son Serra de Marina are all just short drives away.
I just sourced a three night break for two people from Monday 1st April, just when the nights are getting lighter, for €252 room only. Why not have a detailed look at the Ca'n Moragues Hotel on our hotel booking page for everything you'll need to know about it?
