Jamiroquai headline Mallorca Live

May festival in Calvia

The hot musical news this week is that the Mallorca Live festival which takes place in Calvia in May 2019 will be headlined by British funkateers Jamiroquai. It's a coup for the festival which has erred on the 'Indie' side of things in its first three outings and will probably bring an older element to the regular crowd.

It's a two day affair on the 10th and 11th May in the old Aquapark grounds in Calvia, which is the code name for Magaluf these days. There are various prices for tickets which can be bought online from the official festival webpage which also details the other acts like - Two Door Cinema Club, Vetusta Morla and Dixon – who will be performing.

Jamiroquai, fronted by hat and fast car loving Jay Kay, formed in 1992 and were immediately successful with their funk/acid jazz/electro/disco stylings and have sold an incredible 27 million records worldwide.

It's their only Spanish appearance next year but not the first time in Mallorca. In the past they've played concerts in Palma's bullring and Jay Kay himself has holidayed in Mallorca on several occasions. He even used the island as the setting for one of his official videos; Love Foolosophy co starring Heidi Klum.

A nice little marketing touch by the organisers to publicise Jamiroquai's appearance was to supply lots of bars and cafes in Palma with little sachets of sugar with Jay Kay's behatted image on them to serve at breakfast time the other day. Sweet!
