Food with a view
If you're one of those people who like nothing better than eating or drinking in a relaxed, yet stylish place with good food, atmosphere and a fantastic view, then Cocco in Portixol is just for you. It certainly has everything I want for a night out as it's a cafe, bar, and restaurant on three levels topped by a sunset terrace with superb views of the busy Bay of Palma.
Right by the seafront promenade of Palma's village by the sea, Portixol, it has views over the small sandy cove, the paseo with its running, cycling skating track and the blue seas all the way across to the cruise liner port. It's a modern building completely at odds with the traditional seafront architecture here, but its glass and aluminium facade really does the trick.
Nominally Italian by cuisine, you can get pasta dishes and pizza, but the meat and seafood are to die for with some imaginative plates on the menu and specials board. I've only used a few photos from Cocco's Facebook page to illustrate what they do, but I'm hooked already!
It's the kind of place where you can spend a long, languorous evening, planned or unplanned as one reviewer on the FB page did – went in for a beer or two, ended up having dinner followed by cocktails on the top deck and left at 01:00 hours!
Modern, stylish yet comfortable, it's the type of place you can kick back, relax, watch the world go by and leave extremely satisfied. I like the stark simplicity of the décor with warm splashes of light particularly illustrated by the Edward Hopperesque photo I've used on our photo slideshow above.
