A weekend of nautical, musical and gastronomic enjoyment
The Port of Alcudia is holding its 11th annual Nautical and Gastro Fair which features all things sepia, cuttlefish to you and me, and not a load of old photos in a shoebox in the loft! From Friday through to Sunday lovers of all things nautical can visit exhibitions and shows with dozens of exhibitors all positioned around the leisure marina towards the end of the port. Throughout the weekend there will be displays of marine rescue, radio controlled boats and sailing in general.
For landlubbers like me, the main fun will be in the restaurants, streets and special marquee erected near the commercial port (see map below) where there will be lots of music and a whole foodie festival dedicated to the cuttlefish.
Over 30 restaurants nearby will have special menus displaying their skills at preparing this humble cephalopod and another 20 will have cuttlefish stalls in the marquee. You'll find deliciously cooked sepia in croquettes, fried, in batter, breadcrumbs, on pizzas, as a burger, in pica-pica, on pintxos, in Paella and on kebabs – so something for everybody, and if you've never tried it, give it a go, it's nothing like an elastic band!
Now to help us digest our food and keep everybody occupied there's kids' entertainment, a craft market, and a big programme of music throughout the days and evenings. On Friday 8th April, the hours are 11 until 03, Saturday 9th April, 10 until 03, and Sunday 10th 10 until 20.
If you want to party, there's six hours of continuous music, both live and recorded, with DJs and bands in the marquee from 21 on Friday and Saturday nights so you can dance your cuttlefish burger and fries off all night!
