Get fit and healthy
This weekend Palma's big recreation area in front of the cathedral, the Parque del Mar, becomes the centre of the health and fitness universe when thousands of people attend the big FIT Salud Palma 2017 event. It's an initiative to get everyone – big, small, young and old – partaking in healthy activities and everything is absolutely free. Just bring yourself and a pair of the most ridiculously lurid trainers you can find and give it a go.
The park will be divided into five different areas linked by a floating catwalk across the lake where tons of different sports and activities, both on land and water, take place. Take your pick from cycling, zumba, martial arts, kayaking, paddle surf, pilates, yoga, Nordic walking, jogging and many more – just take a look at the programme for an idea of all you can do.
It all takes place this Saturday and Sunday, 23rd and 24th September when there are two sessions a day, mornings from 10:30 to 14:30 and afternoons from 16:30 to 20:30. There are special zones for kids where they can practice archery, volleyball, beach tennis and slackline, whatever that is, and for all of us, the good old food trucks will be parked up for refuelling pit stops for all of us.
So, if you fancy giving some physical activity a go for free, get yourself over to the Parque del Mar this weekend.
